I have been on fire on the blog lately and posted two great art deco era acquisitions. One is an entire wedding archive from the 1920s stored by its owner lovingly.  Ruby's wedding dress was found with ostrich feathers and more!  Check it out here! Both are currently in my personal collection, although the wedding set will probably go up on Sarara Couture in the spring.

Old Hollywood Bling

I ran across an amazing set just dripping with Art Deco design and Hollywood glam style! This pin/earring combo is large and I could not believe my own eyes when I found them. I enjoy an Art Deco jewelry design as much as the next person, and these do not disappoint. They date from around the end of the Deco era circa 1930's-40's and feature a stunning black cut glass center flanked by various rhinestones. Pretty In Pastels

As a child I was a bit of a Tom Boy, or Tom Ghoul (as I would say before learning to properly pronounce my R's).  I have to admit that it took me a rather long time to really develop a taste for these soft colors, but develop a taste I did!  I do love my pastels;  particularly when paired with nudes, metallic golds and silvers, and especially with bright accents of shocking pink.

 Pastels are the talk of the town this Spring thanks in part to films such as The Artist and the upcoming Gatsby movie as well as Boardwalk Empire and of course Mad Men.  How could designers not be inspired or at least influenced by the lovely palletes and silhouettes of the 1920's -30's as well as the early 1960's.

Here are a few of my favorite pastel pieces currently available at the Noble Savage Vintage shop on Ruby Lane.

A fabulous frock from the earlier end of the Twenties cut in a peachy keen cotton voile with orange and white embroidered accents.

I am having soooo much fun going through my pre 1930s collection that I recently acquired. 

Dating back to the 1880s, it is a pleasure to examine the hand sewing, the quality of the silks and appreciating the enormous amount of time it took to make these garments. In a strange and good way, it makes me slow down too. It forces me to be grateful of time and not rush through life - to live life in the moment. 

As Elisabeth Kubler-Ross said: "There is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden, or even your bathtub."

Noble Savage Vintage Goes Boho Chic on Etsy

The runways are mad for plaid this season and Boho chic is back.  How will you update your Boho look this Fall?  Why not start with some essential, classic pieces.  

Start with this classic bias cut tartan plaid skirt.  It will hug the curves and has a nice flare at the bottom giving you a long and lean look.

Next, why not mix up the decades a little?  To keep this look fresh, try pairing the skirt with this lovely 1930's cotton ruffles blouse. 

Add a statement necklace or pendant, such as this late 1960's - early 70's neo victorian/ gothic revival piece.

Add this chick black velvet wide brim hat creating an air of mystery and further slimming the stylelines of the skirt and blouse.  

Finally, finish the look off with this classic and well constructed hard leather Aigner purse. This purse was made to last and the classics are always in fashion.

*All this ensemble is missing are shoes and a coat.  I would suggest a granny styled boot or a fabulous pair of suede wedge boots.  Ponchos and caplets are HUGE this season.  Wouldn't a black suede poncho or a sweater knit complete this outfit perfectly?  Stay tuned as I will be adding a few capelets ponchos soon ;)

The great thing about all of the pieces I have selected is that they are all classics and will mix and match with modern pieces such as jeans, sweaters and cardigans easily.
