Searching for a blog topic today I stumbled across a wonderful tradition for the Thanksgiving season. November 23, 2011 is National Tie One On DayTM. The day was created to put the give back in Thanksgiving.
The idea is brilliant! While preparing your own Thanksgiving meal, take time out to wrap a loaf of bread or baked good in an apron, write a short note of encouragement, put in the apron's pocket and then step out of your door and give it to someone in need of physical or spiritual sustenance. Simple and effective!
I LOVE my aprons! I spend a lot of time in them (of course I have a small collection), my mother and grandmother never cooked without them. I don't find them old fashioned or demeaning in the woman should be in the kitchen kind of way - on the contrary, an apron saves my clothes, can be used to wipe hands, hold hot items (not recommended - but I do it anyway) and will brighten up a dreary day (they are so cute and colorful!).
